Ah-Ha Moment from Kevin E. Whalley AIA, NCARB:
“This journey to be ‘green’ was inspired by the homeowner’s passion to build a sustainable custom home. Dolphin’s standard design features and construction techniques allowed their home to begin the process as a LEED certified home and meet the Energy Star qualifications with little cost added. The team was very involved with the selection of all local and sustainable products as they strived for LEED points. The Home Energy Rating System (HERS) rating for the home is 66, which is 34-percent more efficient than a typical home. Our ‘ah-ha’ moment occurred when we received the LEED rating and realized that we helped this family create an eco-friendly home.”
